Fashonify Review – A New Way To Find Your Style

fashonify review

Everything today is about connectivity. You want to be connected with your friends, family and even people you’ve never met before, and they you. Why is that? One reason is we want information but in many cases it’s more specific than just that, we want input from others – advice, experience based opinion, guidance. People pay lots and lots of money for this kind of information in the professional world. People that take your money to give opinion are called consultants 😉

Well, now you can stop paying for consulting, at least in the fashion world.

A new service just launched called Fashonify that lets you gather opinion in the form of votes, or polls, on your fashion choices from others. There is even a financial aspect of the service for users… beyond that of wasting money on clothes you will never, should never wear 😉

How it works

The idea is pretty simple…

You can give as much or as little info about your situation as you like, such as “going to a wedding” or “hot date tonight”, and then post one or more pictures of you with your fashion choices. Some things I’ve seen on Fashonify already are maternity clothes choices “does this make me look fat?” kinda thing, nail polish color choices, full on outfits from head to toe, and even facial hair preferences.

Once your post is up, other members can vote on the outfit they like best, and give you feedback in the comment section of your poll. As the votes roll in, it becomes clear which outfit or ensemble will make you the hit of the party, or the fashion outcast 😉

Outfits can also be pinned to Pinterest by anyone.

Pretty simple, right?

Well it gets a tad bit more complicated in a very good way.

Money money money!

For those with serious fashion sense (not me!), if you give awesome feedback on outfits, others can pay you for your advice!

Say someone is going to a big corporate party that could make or break their career, and they are worried about what outfit to choose. They post their poll up on Fashonify, you give some awesome advice about looking classy, sophisticated and not slutty, and they land a huge promotion. Of course they will want to reward you for your help, so they pay you a little (or big 😉 ) tip for your advice. The more great advice you give out, the more money you can earn!

The service itself is free to use and I personally think its design is beautiful. It’s clean, it’s classy, it’s a work of art all in itself.

My thoughts

I have two reasons why I think this startup is a great idea:

First, as someone like me who does lots and lots of things to make extra money, I’m always excited when there is a new way to make money out there. I have no fashion sense so won’t be participating in that respect (though I can assure you I will be asking for advice…my wardrobe is getting stale) but for people that actually do know a thing or two about fashion, or have a natural eye for it, this could be an awesome way to enjoy yourself and make a little extra cash.

And second, people like to talk about things they enjoy and are passionate about, so much so that many people do it for free. I enjoy and am passionate about money, so I blog about it. Business people all around the globe rack their brains continually, trying to figure out why people do things for free, why people write software as open source and give it away for free, or why people spend and hours posting on forums, helping people out with their troubles..all for free.

I think this startup will attract lots of folks that enjoy and are passionate about fashion, just because they are passionate about fashion and the money will just be a bonus. Having lots of passion flowing through a business makes a successful business.

What do you think of this new business?

I’m all for this since I pretty much use Twitter for this type of thing already! I love being able to get a second (or fifth) opinion on fashion purchases before I go for it, or an iffy daily outfit combo I’ve conjured. Love it…and I love that YOU are posting about it! (It makes me feel far better about being a personal finance blogger that is also a fashion geek).

🙂 thanks buddy!

THat’s actually how the idea was born – a Facebook poll 😉 according to the founder. I’m one that appreciates fashion although my budget doesn’t allow much style 😉

First of all anyone who calls me fashionable gets my attention. 😉

I think it’s a really fun idea for the fashionistas among us. I love the concept, and it’s very simple, though personally I might be heartbroken if my fave combo is voted down. 😉

I personally love putting together looks I like and taking photos, so would likely use this for fun.

I think it would be a great way to connect with fashionistas as a designer, fashion blogger, or even a brand.

Cool find!

You can always tell who is well dressed 😉 I loved your outfits at the conference, very pro and stylish!

I saw some polls where the poster was upset just posting about their fashion, as the article of clothing was a fav and getting worn, but the comments are always helpful from what I’ve seen! No overly critical comments yet.

I have come to the point where sometimes I just want to throw my clothes all out, and have a charlie brown wardrobe.

I do only have 1 type and size of sock though =). Makes matching socks a breeeeze~

Now for the people who are more concerned about fashion, I think this website is very innovative. Since fashion seems concerned with the most is other people’s opinions, and this site brings those opinions do your doorstep (outdated phrase?).

If your friends don’t like it, save the money and pass on it. I hope this will put some impulse buyers in the check that they so desperately need =)

Interesting. It would be cool if the people replying could construct a mini story board of sorts with picts of what they think would work.

That’s a great idea, you should email Chris, the creator, I’m sure he’d consider it. He’s great at listening to his users for ideas on how to improve things.
