How Do They Compare: iPhone vs Android – Part 2

Posted by Jesse Michelsen

In the past year the Android operating system has gained considerable traction in the smart phone market. It’s main competition, as well as the dominating factor in the smart phone market is the iPhone’s IOS now in it’s 4th and soon to be 5th iteration. Both of these systems are very unique and have their own strengths as well as flaws. Almost every day I’m asked to explain the difference between these devices and help users that I support at my job as well as friends and family decide on which type of device they should choose. I don’t […] Continue Reading…

How to Boost Your Saving Power

Last week I read an article on the Times online that was titled, How to boost your spending power and this title really disappointed me. Although the Times is not necessarily a financial geared publication, it is a national news source and I feel this article is telling the public to do exactly the opposite of what they need to be doing.

Reading the article, the tips were more about saving money but for the wrong reason; so that you could buy more stuff.

The first sentence in the article reminded me of a statistic I had read recently about the […] Continue Reading…

I Do What The Computer Tells Me: Overcharge!

After our Applebees excursion, we went to the mall. I know, wild night huh?

We don’t go to the mall often, or ever for that matter. I think the last time I went was when I got my eyes checked because the mall contains the closest eye doctor to our home, and that was more than a year ago.

But we went there so my wife could do a little baby and mommy shopping in a maternity store as they are few and far between, even where we live and babies seem to grow on trees.

As usual, every store in […] Continue Reading…

Are You Ready For Space Travel? It’s Coming

Posted by Jesse Michelsen

This week something pretty impressive happened that will go down in history: the first commercial flight into space took place.

That’s right, a non government body successfully sent a spacecraft into orbit, had it do some task up there and then it returned safely to earth. This space shuttle, created by a private company called SpaceX was unmanned and was one of the first of three test flights of this particular rocket which will eventually dock with a space station and be used to shuttle supplies. The shuttle was created to have human passengers although the first passenger was […] Continue Reading…

Review: Bankrate.com Brokerage Account Comparison

On the Internet, new companies crop up every day. New websites to do just about anything you’ve been doing elsewhere before including banking and stock trading. It’s pretty hard to stick with just one company too because the new ones always offer something great for you to jump ship.

But swag and bribes aside, how do you choose between companies? I’m talking specifically about banking institutions now. I’ve changed banks a couple times in the last year and opened a few accounts I didn’t actually need, I’ve chased my fair share of rates, but one tool that’s become invaluable to […] Continue Reading…

5 Ways Being Stupid Will Cost You

Posted by Jesse Michelsen

People are pretty stupid. You have to admit it, the human race as a whole is not something to be proud of. Sure we have the philosophers and greats throughout history but they are few and far between. Here are five ways being stupid can cost you money.

Speeding. This should be pretty obvious but like I said people are stupid. I’m not saying I never speed. I am human, after all. But the people I am talking about here are the people that are going 95 on the freeway, weaving in and out of lanes. The people passing others […] Continue Reading…
