Linkworthy: Balance, Bills and Movie Futures
Yet another busy weekend. My sister in law is pregnant and my wife was in charge of the baby shower, which means I was helping 🙂 We had a blast doing all the food for the shower and it turned out really good.
On somewhat of the same subject, you really have to find a balance in your life in order to enjoy yourself and be happy. If you work too much and play too little, you will end up hating your everyday life and only looking forward to the weekends, which usually are just used to unwind and instead of being productive in your home life.
On the other hand, if you play too much and never get anything done at work, or don’t work at all..well, you will probably end up back in your parents basement 🙂
So my pick this week goes to Eliminate The Muda’s post on Work-Life Balance. He discusses a newer way to get things done at work, called ROWE, or Reward Oriented Work Environment. It’s a pretty cool, though somewhat radical system, where you work as much as you have to, to get things done, as long as things do get done. Those that don’t get things done get canned, and the ones that do enjoy great flexibility in their workplace and productivity actually rises, according to the studies. Jump on over and check it out, a very interesting read.
Other great stuff this past week:
- Peak Personal Finance discusses another part of the balance of life, Healthcare, talking about options under the new healthcare bill
- Darwin’s Finance talks about a very interesting investment idea, Investing in Movie Futures
- And a little on some expenses that feel like they never end from Money Reason’s
Where Pffirewall was mentioned elsewhere:
It’s been a very cool week and thanks to everyone for the great content you put out this week, as well as the mentions on your sites! br>

Also contratulations on figuring about the life balance piece you wrote about above at such a young age! It’s took me many years to figure that one out!!!
I see the LeanLifeCoach has figured it out too, based on his great writeup on the subject matter! 🙂

🙂 Thanks MR! I’m starting to feel my age, I just turned 23! but I am certainly glad I found the PF community as early as I did, you guys rock and have such good info for all ages!
my last comp said the same thing but it was with kung fu. balance is always necessary in everything. Ex; between work, family, and the Lord.
You better believe it, without balance you will become exhausted and feel just stretched too thin, but never accomplish what you set o
