The Real Reason for Lehman Brothers’ Downfall

We have all been hearing a great deal about Lehman Brothers going under and causing this current recession at least in part. Fingers have been pointed at everyone from David Bowie to irresponsible home buyers. I think I have found the real reason that Lehman Brothers went under…Kramer.

Around 1997, Kramer, through a freak coincidence of such commonly found in Kramer’s history, got a job at one Brand/Leland. During the course of his job there, he and Jerry often fought about the time he spent at work. This effected Kramer’s work habits insomuch that he was discharged from Brand/Leland. During his time of employment however, he did submit some business reports on the company’s behalf.

It is my theory that those reports somehow got put into production within the company. The company then was secretly acquired by Lehman Brothers and the eleven years of work based on those reports, that apparently contained nothing relevant to business whatsoever, caused the company to make some bad decisions based on bad information and eventually closed the choke hold that would kill Lehman Brothers and thrust the nation into this spiral of doom that is the current state of the market.

For those of you that do not want to view the video, here is the script:

KRAMER

What did you want to see me about, Mr. Leland?

LELAND

Kramer, I’ve.. been reviewing your work.. Quite frankly, it stinks.

KRAMER

Well, I ah.. been havin’ trouble at home and uh.. I mean, ah, you know, I’ll work harder, nights, weekends, whatever it takes..

LELAND

No, no, I don’t think that’s going to, do it, uh. These reports you handed in. It’s almost as if you have no business training at all..

I don’t know what this is supposed to be!

KRAMER

Well, I’m uh, just–tryin’ to get ahead..

LELAND

Well, I’m sorry. There’s just no way that we could keep you on.

KRAMER

I don’t even really work here!

LELAND

That’s what makes this so difficult.
