I hate being sick, it just sucks. Since I moved to Utah, I’ve been sick more than ever before, probably mostly because of the cold. Sickness goes through Utah in waves and I used to just get knocked over by them each Winter.
But doesn’t it feel great when you recover from something like the flu? Now imagine you have something like the flu, only with a more lasting effect on your life, like a brain tumor. Surviving something like that is nothing short of a miracle, right?
Well, I want you to meet a gal named Katie. She is a single mom out of Dallas and she has had not one, but two brain tumors. She managed to beat the first, and is fighting to defeat the second. But just when she thought things may be looking up, she has to deal with one more thing, hydrocephalus.
Hydrocephalus, more commonly know as water on the brain, can take quite the toll on someones life and can cause death. Katie is fighting all of this while taking care of her kids and bringing home the bacon for her family.
Last month, the organization called Love Drop raised over $13,000 for two little boys with autism so they could receive a special dog trained to help them in day to day life. The community behind Love Drop also provide the family with three iPads to aid in communication. It was pretty amazing watching the story of these two boys and family of five unfold, and watching the video of the actual drop when all the money and gifts were given to the family was heart warming.
But it’s time to do it all over again, and this time for Katie. She needs help. The money raised for her this month will go towards her huge medical bills as well as help bring some community her way since she won’t be able to attend Blissdom conference. Here’s her story:
It’s pretty amazing what a group of people, united together can do. I mean, $13,000 is a lot of money to raise in 28 days! And we need to step up and do it again. Here are some ways you can help:
1. Give $1.00 – This is the best way to help out and join our team at the same time.
2. Join our blogger network – Blog about our Love Drops each month like I am 🙂 It’s easy, it’s rewarding, and it REALLY helps spread the word (which in turn helps our families). Love Drop will give you all the content you need.
3. Give a gift or provide a service – Gift cards are always helpful. Places like Target, Safeway, gas stations, etc would definitely help them out.
Thanks for sharing the love!
