Updates on us and a giveaway

I’ve been fairly quiet this past month so I thought I’d share what I’ve been doing.

Firstly, I had no idea that weight loss could take up so much of my time. I’ve been really focusing on the weight loss competition I entered and results so far are great, but it really is time consuming to plan ahead, manage meals meticulously and get as much exercise as possible.

So far I’m down about 25 lbs since May 15th-ish and feeling awesome. We are about half way through the competition and I have another 25+ to lose to hit my goal weight. The best part is, even though it’s taking a ton of time away from writing, I’m doing things the right way. I’m not doing any fad diets or weight-loss pills. I’m eating healthy, balanced meals, keeping track of calories and types of calories as well as other nutrition based info in all of my foods and I’m getting a ton of exercise. I’ve honestly never been so active in my life but it leaves less time to sit at my computer and write.

Next on the list, my wife’s pregnant again. This is another planned baby, and my wife instantly shot into morning-noon-night sickness. She gets like this each pregnancy, and I won’t say it’s easy to deal with but I do my best. It’s just hard to see her like that and there isn’t much I can do to ease her sickness.

Last week we took a trip to California to visit my parents and break the news to them. It was a good trip. There’s nothing like fresh California fruit, beautiful sun and some time at the beach to brighten your spirits and help ya feel refreshed after a far too long winter here in Utah.

In the next few months I’ll be blowing the dust of some baby related posts that never reached the top of the drafts barrel and I’ll be sharing our money related experiences with our third childbirth as it progresses. This will be our first baby with insurance, and we already have an estimate on the cost we will have to cover…shockingly to me, it’s not much less than paying outright for the birth like we did our last baby!

Jesse, congratulations on the new baby. Sorry to hear your wife is having a hard time. I don't remember those days fondly.

My next vacation plans is not really a vacation since I'm going to a blogging summit for educational purposes in a couple of weeks.

Congratulations on the weight loss and the baby. Having no children I have to say my experience in that area is limited. I am impressed by the amount of weight you have lost it took me 4 months to loose the same amount.

My next vacation – well we have no idea as the UK Govt has kindly decided to make public sector workers the brunt of all the economic woes we expect to be in for a rough time hence my visit to your site for tips. I may well be a stay at home vacation on the back decking:)

Great site
Andrew

Thank you Andrew, if you read about the competition, the prize is $10,000 for the team of 5, so that is a pretty good motivator 🙂 plus having the team for support really helps.

I heard about the public sector taking the hits like that and thought it was a joke or something, I think that the government taking the debt crisis seriously is great but I don't agree that is the best way to go about fixing the problem. Good luck with everything, and stay-cations can be fun, just enjoy yourself 🙂
