Hello! I’m 26, a recent law school graduate and I’m swimming in credit card, car payments and student loan debt. It’s difficult to see the light at the end of the tunnel but somehow I’ve managed to pay at least my minimum payments on everything, even when I was unemployed or working part-time retail/temp jobs, which means my credit score is good, but my debt to income ratio is horrid.

After looking for full-time work for a year and a half, I finally started my first full-time, salaried job (ever) in Sept. 2010 but even with a decent salary, more than half of my income goes to bills – which makes saving difficult, especially with other expenses – rent, gas, food, housewares, furniture, travel, debt owed to parents from when I wasn’t working, etc. I try not to use my credit cards, but sometimes at the end of the month it gets tight and I have to put anywhere between $40 to $250 worth of charges on various cards. I’ve cut cost where I can – I don’t have cable tv and only pay $19.95/mo for Internet — where I watch tv and movies for free. I also sell jewelry on eBay and Amazon, stuff I bought wholesale before my full-time employment but with less time on my hands, I’m lucky if I make $80/month net from my online sales.

Because of interest rates, my credit card balances are barely budging every three months and all my student loans have been deferred.

Do I need to get a part-time job to supplement my income? Also, into money management services, specifically NFCC. Is NFCC a good idea? How will they help me become DEBT FREE??

So, what would I like you to write about in 2011? Well, how about ways to budget and prosper with a house full of kids? I have kids, and I know the extent of such costs but am convinced that many people unknowingly just don’t have an idea. Also, how about how to succeed as a freelancer (echoing the comment by Miranda above), and posts related to that topic?

Or, keep posting how you have been. That’s kept me around as a follower.
